Tangent: Backwards

Life is a tightrope.
Precarious balance.
Nothing is certain.
All can be lost.
Are you going forwards or backwards in your life?

Today I am going backwards.

Forty-seven: Learn not to say 'yes' when I really mean 'No'.

I've struggled with this one all my life. I always believed that I had to say 'yes' or there would be dire consequences.
Saying 'no' inevitably hurt someone (usually me).
But as I've got older, it's become easier and easier and this year I've managed more than ever before..
Wisdom has taught me that as long as one is prepared to take the consequences for one's actions, whether it's a 'yes' or a 'no', that's really all that matters.
'When in doubt, say no!
(I painted this with my one finger, on a yellow card. Quite effective.)

Tangent: Good Morning

Crispy early mornings,
Sun glimmering on the grass,
Quiet and peaceful,
Hope within one's breast,
Snuffles with her jaunty step.
Good morning world!

Tangent: Wake - up Call

Found Mr Spider outside my front door this morning
Looked at him with awe
Made me realise yet again
That
We are all striving to 'make ends meet'
W are all striving to keep our homes together.
We are all striving to do whatever we have to do to survive.
Before it's too late.
Mr Spider you are my wake-up call for today.
I thank you.

Tangent: Juggling (IF)

I am being 'juggled' and tossed about by LIFE right now.
Can't seem to find my equilibrium.

Tangent: Nelson Mandela

I painted this picture of Nelson Mandela in 2003. Isn't it glorious?

Yesterday, 29th August 2007, a statue of Nelson Mandela was unveiled in Parliament Square in London. I forgot the date, and wasn't there to see him, so feel cross with myself.

When asked who I admire most in my life, my immediate reply is always 'Nelson Mandela'. I remember the day he was released from prison (11th February 2000). We were all watching it on TV and crying. There is no greater man than this one, his love of mankind and his penchant for forgiveness are great examples to emulate. Hail 'Madiba'.

Tangent: Oh Boy

All my lovin'

All my kissin'

You don't know

What you been a missin'

Oh Boy - when you're with me

Oh Boy, the world can see

That you were meant for me

All of my life

I been a waitin'

Tonight there'll be no hesitatin'

Oh Boy - when you're with me

Oh Boy, the world can see

That you were meant for me

Stars appear

And the shadows a fallin'

You can hear my heart a callin'

A little bit of lovin'

Makes everything right

And I'm gonna see

My baby tonight
Buddy Holly and the Crickets
My first craze 1958
